Microsoft Family Safety: "Only allow list" loophole through Google Images
Good day to everybody, this is my first post! I have a Family Safety installed on a Windows 7 computer. I created an "educational" account on it for a child which runs only allowed programs and allows sites which are on allow list only. The list of allowed sites is really limited (around 30) however it includes Google Images. Recently I found out that my son found a loophole in filter which allows him to open pages which are not on Allowed list. The step to reproduce: 1) Go to images.google.com 2) Make a search for a topic which show thumbnails from all sites. E.g. search for "video games" 3) Choose one thumbnail from the search listing and click on it. The image will appear on in middle of the screen while the site fro the image will load in faded background. Though site is not on allow list, it already loads. 4) Click on the "x" button on the image from middle of the screen and you can use the page which was the source of the image, including embedded videos on it. If you'll try to continue to the next page on the site it Family Safety will block it. However with a little of trying you have an ability to open at least some pages of any site which is not on allow list. If I find no way to correct this, ultimately I will need to remove Google Images from the allow list, what I am not willing to do, because it has other legitimate uses. My question would be: Is this behavior can reproduced on other computers, and if so can it be corrected without blocking search engine as whole. Thanks!
